Prior to founding Watermark, Kerem served as the CEO of Astra Student Housing where he created Turkey’s largest private student accommodation developer and operator with 5000 beds. He simultaneously served as Managing Director of Milestone Capital Partners, a direct investment firm founded in 2007.  Kerem led the 50% acquisition of Astra in 2010.  Bringing together a diverse base of Shareholders including strategic  development partners and financial institutions such as the IFC (World Bank).

Kerem has over 20 years of investment experience in financial markets across multiple asset classes including managing public equity portfolios and private equity investments. Kerem was a founding member of the Dubai Investment Group (DIG) the investment office of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai. Prior to becoming a manager at Hedge Fund of Funds and Member of the Investment Committee at DIG, Kerem served as a senior analyst for several direct investments.  These include DIG's partnership with Citigroup Alternative Investments - Estithmaar Islamic Real Estate Fund, a European Real Estate Private Equity Fund, Estithmaar TMT Fund, a JV with Deutsche Bank, and DIG’s opportunistic real estate investment initiative Longwing Ventures US.

Prior to joining DIG at its inception, he was a senior trader at Citigroup, N.A. Treasury in Dubai.

Kerem has also served as the Vice President of Board of Trustees at Bilgi University. Kerem has a B.Sc. from Bentley Uni. (USA) and an M.B.A. from Warwick Uni. (UK).


David begun his professional career in Hong Kong with multinational commodity trader Noble Group.  Assisting with agricultural and logistics M&A, he then helped establish the Group’s first in-house research team providing macro economic coverage across several countries of interest. In his second year with the Group, David moved to Singapore to join the coal team as thermal coal analyst. Seeking a more challenging and active role, David moved into a FIFO role in East Kalimantan, Indonesia as Commercial Manager to the Group’s only fully owned and operated met-coal mine. Extending his stay in Kalimantan, he project managed a turn-key role-out of a new high-wall mining operation. David next served as the Commercial Manager for a distressed acquisition of an iron ore asset in Northern Territory, Australia. Leading the due diligence and CAPEX feasibility study targeted to salvage the mine through operational and supply chain overhauls. 

After completing a rigorous 4 years in both office and on-onsite roles, David decided to pause his professional career to complete a lifelong ambition of world travel. 3 years of dedicated solo backpacking divided in two overland routes- India to Japan and Mexico to Patagonia.

Upon having returned to Turkey after 10 years, he chose to follow a more entrepreneurial journey involving hospitality, aviation and beverage beverage industries before dedicating his full time to Watermark in international commercial real estate.

Mr. Kanver has been instrumental in working from the site selection process through financing, marketing, and branding for some of the best IRR of real estate development projects both in the USA and abroad. For developers he has focused on their ultimate goal – excellent ROI, that is determined by many factors from design and materials to location and assesment of regulatory and government approvals. From an investor and builder’s perspective Mr. Kanver oversees physical project development from predevelopment and feasibility stages to ground breaking, construction management through to completion. In residential condominium projects he has successfully marketed individual units to both potential residents and investors from abroad. Market knowledge is key to success and with extensive experience throughout the United States and in Turkey he brings a contact base from both the US and abroad to his professional work.

Current and past developments include luxury condominium projects in NYC on both the Upper East Side and East Village, luxury development in both Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. Through his company GD3, Mr. Kanver is also the founder of RED (Real Estate Development) in New York (REDinNYC), one of New York City’s most respected real estate professional networking organizations that bring industry professionals together with periodic events and critical conferences which recently grows in entire USA. Mr. Kanver also represents real estate companies from Turkey for their North and South America initiatives. This includes family offices along with firms such as Acibadem Project Management, NEF, Rixos, and Tabanlioglu. Mr. Kanver also works with CNY, NY based construction firm for Turken Foundation Yurt Evi project in Manhattan. He holds strong relationship with Peru and Bolivia for specifically healthcare projects.
